Manu Propria 'Sakuragawa' : branch or fountain pen ?

We have a Manu Propria Sakuragawa in the house ! It is a stunning fountain pen. It looks like a branch and although it is pretty long it feels very comfortable in the hand. Like all urushi pens it has a warm touch and feel.

Sakuragawa nuri is an urushi technique called ‘cherry bark lacquer’ . This technique imitates the color and surface of a cherry tree bark. In Japan the bark of the cherry tree has been used to decorate objects called "kabazaiku", tea and kitchen utensils like tea caddies, trays but also small furnitures, sword sheets, calligraphy brushes, smoking accessories and more.
