Aqua, 8-string Chime * Koshi 4-Elements

The Koshi 4-Elements collection is inspired by the elemental forces of life. Tuned to 432 Hz, its pentatonic scale gives it a pure and open character, with a soothing sound that may evoke introspection.
 Aqua is the melody of movement and depth: an enveloping listening experience, always carried by Koshi’s distinctive harmonic balance. It has a uniquely soft, clear and flowing sound. Each rod sounds its fundamental note, but also more subtle harmonics, which resonate with the instrument as a whole. From this conversation between the notes emerges a continuous, deep and soothing halo of sound.

 Each Koshi chime is made at the foot of the French Pyrenees. The craftsperson solders eight steel rods with silver onto a metal base, then tunes them one by one, with meticulous attention to their pitch, accuracy and the balance of the whole. The bamboo resonance chamber amplifies the vibrations and gives the Koshi chime its long and warm resonance. Move the chime gently holding it by its cord: the crystalline sound may leave you in quiet wonder or let the wind play and carry you away in an unexpected melody.
