Izumo Yagumonuri Byakudan * Platinum Maki-e
The body and cap of the Izumo Yagumonuri Byakudan are made in ebonite. The process of this Byakudan Maki-e starts with groundlayers. Afterwards the pen is wrapped in very thin gold foil (byakudan). The pattern is drawn in urushi and sprinkled with gold and coloured lacquer powders. Finaly the design is sealed with several (shuai) transparent lacquers. With time the transparent lacquers will enlighten and reveal the beauty of the design and the gold foil will add a special and warm colour variation to this marvelous pen.
