Nawate III Kuroginhaku Sei Fountain Pen * Sailor
The Sailor NAWATE Fountain Pen Kuroginhaku collection presents Sei in a lustrous glossy finish and Ei in a refined matte finish. Layers of Urushi lacquer are brushed in irregular strokes, upon which Kuroginhaku – black silver foil – is delicately and purposefully scattered. This intricate process reveals depth, subtle shading, and shifting expressions in response to slight changes in light, something impossible to achieve with a uniform black surface.
The Sailor Nawate Sei shines like a radiant star against the jet-black night sky, while Ei emerges gently under the calm illumination of moonlight. Together, they embody the elegance and profound beauty of black.
Lacquer artist Toru Yoshida is the third-generation head of “Shikko Yoshida”, a Japanese lacquer atelier in the Aizu Wakamatsu region. He does not limit himself to the Aizu-nuri lacquering technique, but fuses various forms and techniques that best suit each lacquerware he crafts. His ingenuity has given birth to Sailor Pen’s Traditional Japanese Lacquer Art NAWATE Haku-chirashi Fountain Pens. The vertical striation on the fountain pen cap gives it a visually elegant, elongated appearance and provides a stable grip for capping and uncapping. It is a masterpiece of beauty.
