CP. Camelia Cigar Portable * Nakaya Maki-e

Maki-e
Description

The Nakaya Camelia is made on a Shiro (white) background sprinkled with a veil of gold dust. It gives the white color an extra dimension. The Camelia flower is created by a Sumi-ko technique (heaping up charcoal powders to make the relief) and finished with a black urushi top coating. The pistil is evoked by nashiji (dense sprinkled gold powders) and finished with gold urushi painting. The tiny bud on the end of the barrel is heaped up with silver powders, painted with colored urushi, and finished with gold dust.

The Nakaya Camelia is a lovely pen in a rare color and stands out by its simple design.

Important note: Urushi doesn't like direct sunlight, so keep your pens with their precious Urushi lacquer in a protected environment. A pen pouch, pen case or closed drawer is sufficient.

Since its reappearance in 2000, the Nakaya nib has proudly displayed its traditional logo that dates from the 1920s. Only Maki-e artists trained by the prestigious Japanese schools are called upon to craft the Nakaya writing instruments. The sober designs make the Nakaya fountain pens universal and timeless. The magnificent lacquering and Maki-e techniques make them quite unique. These exquisite hand-made writing instruments are therefore a must for every collection.
