The screw-type cap, the barrel and the middle section of the Nakaya Aria-Shu Portable Writer fountain pen are made of ebonite and lacquered with Wajima Urushi. This model is designed to be used without the cap when writing. As ebonite is a very lightweight material, it is possible to make the barrel thicker and longer. As a result, it is easier to set the point of equilibrium to provide a comfortable writing experience for everyone. The Wajima Urushi used is the colour Arai-Shu (oranje- red). Wajima Urushi gives a very high-quality finish. 

Important note: Urushi doesn't like direct sunlight, so keep your pens with their precious Urushi lacquer in a protected environment. A pen pouch, pen case or closed drawer is sufficient.
