Description:

The Pelikan M1000 Limited Edition "Goldfish" Maki-e fountain pen features a graceful and symbolic design. A vivid red goldfish is painted on the cap, while a white goldfish, intricately detailed, graces the barrel. Both fish are meticulously rendered, with subtle gold accents on their scales and flowing tails to emphasize their movement and vitality. Water-themed elements like gently swaying seaweed and rippling waves surround the goldfish, adding depth and serenity to the overall composition. These decorative details, brought to life with shimmering lacquer and fine powder, beautifully evoke the tranquil beauty of a peaceful pond.

Tracing its origins to a red Crucian carp found in the Yangtze River during the 3rd or 4th century, the goldfish began its journey in China. These ornamental fish were meticulously bred in royal courts and temples, gradually evolving into the elegant and vibrant goldfish we know today, characterized by their flowing, split tails and brilliant colors. In Japanese culture, goldfish (金魚 - Kingyo) hold deep symbolic meaning, representing prosperity, good fortune, and elegance. Their name is believed to come from "Chin-yui," meaning "fish of wealth." For centuries, they've been a recurring motif in Maki-e artwork, embodying vitality and abundance.

This masterpiece unites the centuries-old Maki-e tradition with Pelikan’s renowned German engineering, all crafted on the iconic M1000 Souverän® model. Each pen features an 18-carat duotone gold nib in size M. To ensure its authenticity and uniqueness, each piece is individually signed by the Maki-e artist. The "Goldfish" Maki-e fountain pen is a limited edition, with only 123 pieces available worldwide. It comes presented in an exclusive gift box made from traditional Japanese Paulownia wood, a material symbolizing respect and refinement.
