Description:

This "Mukuge" fountain pen was originally designed for a Korean customer. The motif on this Raden fountain pen represents the Mukuge or "Rose of Sharon", which is the national flower of South Korea, symbolising the values of respect and trust. The Mukuge belongs to the Hibiscus family and somewhat resembles a cotton rose. This pen is based on the portable cigar model, but the diameter of its barrel (17 mm) is 2 mm thicker than standard. The petals are formed on a Hekitame (green) base with blue and white shell splinters and slightly lacquered with vermilion accents. The cinnamon red in the middle of the flower makes an elegant contrast with the light-coloured leaves and expresses the sweet scent of the rose. A truly beautiful pen with elegant, purist lines!

Important note: Urushi doesn't like direct sunlight, so keep your pens with their precious Urushi lacquer in a protected environment. A pen pouch, pen case or closed drawer is sufficient.

Nakaya is one of Japan's oldest and most important producers of writing instruments. The history of Nakaya is closely tied up with the Platinum company. For one thing, the two companies share the same founder, Syunichi Nakata, who started out in business in 1919. In time, the brand name "Nakaya" disappeared and made way for "Platinum". Today, however, Toshiya Nakata, the grandson of Syunichi Nakata, is once again at the helm of these two renowned brands. Click here to find out more about Nakaya.
