Anna Jordi Bach lives and works in Girona Spain. Anna is a young woman who fell in love with the craft of bookbinding. What started as a hobby became a passion for life. Anna took her first lessons in Mexico where she learned the base structures like Japanese, Coptic and Belgian bindings. After a while the hobby turned into craft when a new teacher approached bookbinding as pure craftmanship. Anna learned how to use leather, to improve decoration skills and how to handle more complex structures. To Anna traditional bookbinding is important because these books are meant to last.
Anna makes the Sakura’s Red Notebook with 200 sheets Tomoe River 52g paper in crème or white. The inner covers are red coloured Nepalese lokta paper waxed and died with dots or stripes. Anna colours the leather covers herselves and applies the blind print decorations. The red elastic band keeps the Tomoe River sheets together.
Tomoe River 52gsm paper is a silky smooth ultra thin paper that performs great with fountain pens. Each nib glides across the paper. The ink develops its true colour and sheens appear effortless. No bleed, no feathering with only a little ghosting at the back side.
